FLARMINGOS - Augmented Reality Flamingos for iPhone
FLARMINGOS is an innovative augmented reality app for iPhone that brings life-size virtual flamingos into your surroundings. Developed by Kristin Lucas, this free app allows you to start or join a flock of flamingos, creating a shared reality experience with other app users around you.
Immerse yourself in the world of flamingos as you dance to original flamingo-inspired music and capture photos and videos to share with friends. FLARMINGOS also offers the opportunity to learn flamingo dance moves researched by scientists and support wetlands conservation by adopting a wild flamingo.
This project, created in collaboration with the Tour du Valat research institute in Arles, France, combines human motion capture with a dynamic flocking algorithm to animate the virtual flamingos and influence their collective behavior. The shared reality feature enables collaboration with up to 6 app users per flock, dependent on network strength.
FLARMINGOS is compatible with iPhone 6s and higher, 9.7-inch iPad (5th and 6th Generation), 10.5-inch iPad Pro, and 12.9-inch iPad Pro running on iOS 12. To fully enjoy the app, it is recommended to use it in a well-lit space.
